    Background & context

    A British tank commander almost always rode with the hatch open and half his upper body exposed, because you simply could not see enough from inside a Sherman. It cost lives, but it was the only way of spotting an anti-tank gun in time in the bocage or at the edge of a village. Crews outside their tanks were just as much a part of daily life: changing tracks, taking on ammunition or getting out of a burning vehicle after a hit. It takes both together to bring a British tank squadron to life on the table.

    On the tabletop

    The four partial figures go into the open hatches of your Shermans, Cromwells or Churchills, and they fit other tanks just as well. Three complete figures stand alongside, either as a crew that has bailed out after a hit or as commanders scouting the ground ahead of the tank on foot. This gives the vehicles of a British Bolt Action force visible crews instead of empty turrets.
