Hintergrund & Einordnung

The British paratroopers, known as "Red Devils" by the Germans due to their distinctive maroon berets, quickly developed into one of the Allies' most formidable elite units. Deployed by Dakota transport aircraft or Horsa gliders, they fought at the Merville Battery, the "Coup de Main" at Pegasus Bridge, and during Operation Market Garden. The kit also allows for the assembly of Polish paratroopers - identifiable by their larger gray berets - who were also deployed during Market Garden. Despite their light armament, British Paras were considered extremely effective in close combat and uncompromising in defense.

Einsatz im Spiel

British Airborne are classic veteran infantry in Bolt Action: expensive in points, but with high morale and flexibility in weapon choice. PIATs and Bren LMGs give a squad viable anti-tank capabilities or medium-range firepower respectively, while the Sten Gun excels in close quarters. Thematically, they fit perfectly into airborne scenarios for Normandy, Operation Market Garden, or the Rhine Crossing - but also as regular elite infantry in late-war Western Front scenarios. Since the kit also allows for Polish paratroopers, a second faction can be built from one box.
