    Background & context

    Britische Luftlandeverbände sprangen mit dem, was ein Mann tragen konnte. Alles Schwerere kam in Horsa-Lastenseglern oder in Abwurfbehältern nach, und ging dabei etwas daneben, fehlte es der leichten Infanterie sofort an Durchschlagskraft. In Arnheim 1944 wurde genau das zum Problem: Die 1. Luftlandedivision hielt tagelang gegen Panzer, mit einer Ausrüstung, die für ein paar Stunden gedacht war.

    On the tabletop

    Whatever a British paratrooper could not carry came in later by Horsa glider or supply container, including heavy weapons such as the Vickers. Here it stands on its tripod, crewed by three paratroopers. In your airborne force for Bolt Action it gives the lightly armed sections sustained fire at long range. At Arnhem in 1944 the 1st Airborne Division held out for days against tanks, and you can refight such scenarios with the team at a bridge or crossroads.
