Product details

Background & context

The Yihequan, called Boxers by Europeans, were martial arts societies from Shandong. They believed themselves invulnerable and from 1899 moved against mission stations, telegraph wires and railway lines. The court in Peking wavered for a long time and in 1900 came down openly on their side, which put regular troops such as the Muslim Gansu Braves alongside the insurgents. After a 55-day siege of the Legation Quarter, a force drawn from eight nations marched in.

On the tabletop

This box builds up to 30 fighters of the Boxer Rebellion of 1899 and 1900, including Tigermen with painted shields and Gansu Braves who fought as regular soldiers. On the table they attack mission stations, railway lines or the besieged legations in Peking. Their opponents are troops of the Eight Nation Alliance, such as British, German, Russian, Japanese or American soldiers of the relief column. Bases are not included.
