Product details

Background & context

The Bersaglieri are among the most traditional elite units of the Italian armed forces, with a history dating back to the 19th century. Recognizable by their distinctive helmets with the characteristic black capercaillie feather plume, they were considered particularly agile and battle-hardened riflemen. During World War II, Bersaglieri units were deployed in North Africa, the Balkans, and on the Eastern Front. As trained sharpshooters and fast infantrymen, they were intended for demanding combat situations and earned a reputation as tough, reliable adversaries.

On the tabletop

The Breda Modello 37 and the 81 mm Modello 35 mortar give a Bersaglieri platoon in Bolt Action its heavy weapons. The machine gun team lays down suppressing fire on infantry in the open, while the mortar hits enemies behind cover. Two officers lead, joined by a bugler and a medic with a wounded comrade. Bersaglieri regiments fought in North Africa, the Balkans and on the Eastern Front, often motorised alongside armoured divisions, and that is where your platoon belongs too.
