Product details

Background & context

The German infantry platoon of 1939 to 1941 was built around its light machine gun. The MG34 supplied the firepower, the riflemen with the Karabiner 98K hauled up ammunition and covered it, and the squad leader with an MP38 or MP40 led from the front. Added to that was a look that later disappeared: tall jackboots instead of ankle boots with gaiters, steel helmets left bare, full marching kit. It is exactly this image that people still associate with the campaigns in Poland, the Netherlands and France.

On the tabletop

Tall jackboots and plain steel helmets mark the German infantry of the campaigns in Poland, the Low Countries and France up to the drive on Moscow. In Bolt Action the 30 figures build rifle squads around the MG34: the machine gun provides the firepower, the riflemen with Kar 98K cover it, and the squad leader leads from the front with an MP38 or MP40. A rifleman with a scoped rifle, stick grenades, bayonets and parts for command models complete the platoon.
