Product details

Background & context

Between 1798 and 1809 Austria was in the field against France almost without a break, in northern Italy, on the Danube and in southern Germany. The line infantry in their white coats bore the brunt of it. After the defeat at Austerlitz, Archduke Charles forced a thorough reform of training, organisation and tactics on the army. This phase closes in 1809 with Aspern and Wagram, where a reformed Habsburg army gave Napoleon serious trouble for the first time.

On the tabletop

For the Coalition Wars up to 1809 this box gives you Austrian line infantry in white coats. Most figures advance at the charge and form the attack column, while the remaining 16 let you build firing and loading ranks or a sergeant. Two officers, two standard bearers and two drummers lead the battalion, and two mounted colonels the brigade. The theatres are northern Italy, the Danube and southern Germany, up to the battles of Aspern and Wagram.
