Product details

Background & context

The hussars of the Habsburg monarchy were recruited entirely from the Hungarian part of the empire and were the most eye-catching troops in the army: fur cap, braid on the dolman, fur pelisse over the shoulder. They were used for everything: outposts, reconnaissance, skirmishing and, if necessary, as formed cavalry in the line of battle too. Austria was in the field against Napoleon from Austerlitz in 1805 through Wagram in 1809 to the campaigns of 1813 to 1815.

On the tabletop

These 14 riders give you Austrian hussars of 1805 to 1815, in parade dress or field uniform. Built at full gallop, with shouldered sabre or cutting, the unit shows the approach or the attack. On the table hussars take on outposts, scouting and skirmishing, and if needed they also charge in the battle line. Alongside Austrian cuirassiers and dragoons they form the army's light cavalry.
