Product details

Background & context

No British column crossed Natal and Zululand in 1879 without wagons: ox teams hauled ammunition, tents and food along tracks without bridges. At Rorke's Drift, wagons still standing on the site were worked into the breastwork and reinforced with sacks. After the defeat at Isandlwana, where the camp had not been fortified, the wagon laager became a fixed rule for British troops at every halt in Zululand.

On the tabletop

A wagon pushed across a gap turns a weak spot in the breastwork into a solid section. Place it between two buildings or at the end of a sack wall so your British have cover in Black Powder where no wall stands. British columns marched into Zululand in 1879 with long wagon trains, so the model also suits scenarios around a camp or an ambushed convoy. It comes unpainted and unassembled.
