Background & context

The British Army in the Anglo-Zulu War combined regular infantry with local support troops. The Redcoats were equipped with Martini-Henry rifles and relied on disciplined volleys at long range. The Natal Native Contingent was recruited from the local population and supported the main British forces in South Africa. Together, both elements form a typical British armed force for colonial engagements of the late 19th century.

On the tabletop

The starter army provides the core of a British force for the Anglo-Zulu War in Black Powder. The regular infantry holds lines, secures objectives, and uses their firepower against numerically superior enemies. The Natal Native Contingent supplements the army as a local support element and can be used for advanced reconnaissance, flank protection, or scenario objectives.
