    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The British Army in the Anglo-Zulu War combined regular infantry with local support troops. The Redcoats were equipped with Martini-Henry rifles and relied on disciplined volleys at long range. The Natal Native Contingent was recruited from the local population and supported the main British forces in South Africa. Together, both elements form a typical British armed force for colonial engagements of the late 19th century.
