Product details

Background & context

Between 1861 and 1865 more than two million men joined volunteer regiments, most of them named after their home state. They were drilled according to Hardee and Casey and fought in two ranks with rifled muskets at ranges for which the old attack formations had long been too dense. Antietam, Shiloh and Gettysburg showed what came of that. The infantry carried this war, in every sense of the word.

On the tabletop

The 36 infantrymen are not tied to either side's uniform; your paint decides whether they become a Union or a Confederate regiment. On the table they are the line infantry of the Civil War, firing rifled muskets in two ranks. Several boxes make a brigade that, with artillery and skirmishers, can refight actions from Shiloh to Gettysburg. Because the figures suit both sides, the same box also supplies your opponent's troops.
