    With the 6-pdr, British anti-tank defence in the desert could keep pace again. The blister holds the gun and 8th Army crew along with a laser-cut MDF base on which everything can be based together as a small diorama.

    Background & context

    From 1942 the QF 6-pdr replaced the underpowered 2-pdr and in North Africa met an opponent that was by then considerably more thickly armoured. It coped, and with later hard-cored ammunition its penetration was even enough to tear open Panther and Tiger from the side. The Americans adopted the design as the 57 mm Gun M1. Even when the 17-pdr had long been available, the 6-pdr remained in service with the infantry.

    On the tabletop

    For your 8th Army in Bolt Action, the 6-pdr replaces the 2-pdr, which had become too weak, as the main anti-tank gun. Later ammunition lets it knock out even heavy tanks from the side, so place it on a flank facing the line of attack. Its high-explosive shells are weak, so rely on mortars and machine guns against infantry. Three metal crew and an oval MDF base come with it.
