Hintergrund & Einordnung

The British 8th Army was the central Commonwealth formation in the North African Campaign, bringing together troops from Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, India, and Poland. It fought against the Axis powers in Egypt, Libya, and Tunisia and was involved in the decisive battles of El Alamein and the capture of Tobruk. The desert war demanded extreme adaptability from the soldiers - scorching heat, sandstorms, and extended supply lines characterized the daily lives of the Desert Rats, as did the fight against Rommel and his forces.

Einsatz im Spiel

The set provides a balanced core army for Bolt Action with a strong infantry backbone of multiple squads, complemented by anti-tank, artillery, fire support, and mobile Bren Carriers for transport or reconnaissance. The mix of plastic and metal models covers all the classic roles of a Commonwealth infantry force. The set is particularly strong in themed North Africa scenarios but can also be easily used for early Western Front or Italian campaigns.
