Background & context

In the Napoleonic army, British flank companies consisted of light companies and grenadier companies, which were used for mobile combat tasks and shock attacks. In the Peninsular War, British troops fought French armies in Spain and Portugal between 1808 and 1814. Stovepipe shakos and shoulder wings are typical features of this early phase of the war. The 54mm scale is particularly aimed at collectors, display painting, and large-format scene representation.

On the tabletop

These 16 figures in 54 mm scale show the flank companies of a British battalion in the Peninsula: grenadiers and light infantry with stovepipe shakos and shoulder wings. At this size you paint every figure individually, as a display piece, as a group in a diorama or for skirmishes with only a few figures. Firing, loading and marching poses plus officer, ensign, sergeant and drummer allow a complete scene. They do not mix with 28 mm armies.
