    The three-quarter-tonner that held the US Army together. The kit builds as a WC51 or as a WC52 with front winch, comes with an M2 Browning and its mount, and puts three men in the vehicle.

    Background & context

    From the end of 1941 Dodge built the G-502 series, half utility vehicle and half cross-country car, and with it filled exactly the gap between the Jeep and the heavy truck. More than a quarter of a million of these three-quarter-tonners left the production lines, more than of any other WC variant. The WC51 and WC52 differ only in the winch on the front bumper. Allied formations from Normandy to Burma ran them as tractors, workshop vehicles and command cars, and thousands ended up with the Red Army through Lend-Lease.

    On the tabletop

    The Dodge WC51 or WC52 is the US Army's light weapons carrier, and on the table it handles transport and supply for your American force. With the M24A1 mount and the heavy M2 Browning it can give covering fire to an advancing squad, although it has no armour of its own. The WC52 is recognised by the winch at the front, and both versions can be built from the box. A driver, passenger and machine gunner are included, and you can add the tarpaulin and stowage as you like.
