    Background & context

    The M3A1 Scout Car was an American, lightly armored four-wheeled reconnaissance vehicle of World War II. Rubicon describes it as an open-top vehicle with machine gun armament, used as a scout, security vehicle, and armored command vehicle. US cavalry units used the Scout Car in North Africa and Sicily, among other places, before the M8 and M20 took over many of its roles. Large numbers were supplied to British Commonwealth forces, the Soviet Union, and other Allies via Lend-Lease.

    On the tabletop

    The M3A1 Scout Car is an open, lightly armoured scout vehicle that the US cavalry used in North Africa and Sicily for reconnaissance, screening and as a command vehicle. Later it secured rear areas and escorted convoys. British forces used it as an armoured truck, the Red Army as a personnel carrier with room for six men in the back. You build early or late production and arrange the M2, M1919 and M1917 guns on the skate rail, and three crew figures are included.
