    The GIs called it the Deuce and a Half, and hardly a photo from North-West Europe does without it. The kit provides 59 parts on 2 sprues, ring mount, winch and two figures for driver and gunner.

    Background & context

    By the end of production in 1945 GMC had delivered a total of 562,750 vehicles of the CCKW family, with short and long wheelbases, plus tankers, workshop trucks and radio bodies. After the Normandy landings the Red Ball Express used these trucks to keep the advancing armies going, in convoy and around the clock. The open cab with ring mount was the typical front-line version, because it at least let the gunner do something against low-flying aircraft.

    On the tabletop

    American soldiers called this truck the Deuce and a Half, and the Red Ball Express used it to keep the armies supplied after the Normandy landings. In your American force it carries infantry, ammunition and scenario cargo. The open cab with ring mount and machine gun gives some protection against low-flying aircraft, but it has no armour. Winch, canvas and tailgate are built to your choice, and a driver and an MG gunner are included.
