The Rubicon Models M8 Greyhound / M20 Scout Car is a 1/56th plastic kit with 53 parts on 2 sprues. It can be built as either an M8 Greyhound or an M20 Scout Car, and includes multiple equipment options for hatches, MG mount, and stowage.

The M8 entered service with the Allies from 1943, while the M20 was mainly used as a command and reconnaissance vehicle. This makes the kit a good fit for fast reconnaissance and security elements of Allied armies.

Hintergrund & Einordnung

The M8 Greyhound entered Allied service in 1943, serving as a light armored reconnaissance vehicle for the US Cavalry. It saw its first action in Italy and was later used in Europe and the Far East, including Okinawa and the Philippines. The M20 Scout Car utilized the Greyhound chassis, but replaced the turret with an open-topped body and a ring mount for a .50-cal machine gun. In this role, it primarily served as a command, radio, and advanced reconnaissance vehicle.

Einsatz im Spiel

The M8 Greyhound is a fast reconnaissance vehicle for scouting, flanking attacks, and mission pressure. The M20 option adds a turretless command and communications role. In-game, the kit therefore allows for either offensive recce actions or a thematic command vehicle.
