The M3/M3A1 Half-Track is a plastic model kit of an Allied armoured personnel carrier in 1/56 scale. The kit contains 55 parts on 2 sprues, build options for M3 or M3A1, as well as a driver and passenger figures.

Historically, the M3 Half-track was a widely used US transporter, also supplied to British Commonwealth and Soviet troops. In tabletop gaming, it serves as a classic troop transport for motorized Allied forces.

Background & context

The M3 Half-track was an American armored personnel carrier of World War II. It was based on the shorter M2 Half Track Car and was built in large numbers; approximately 15,000 M3s and more than 50,000 derived variants were produced. The vehicle was used by the US Army and US Marines and was also supplied to British Commonwealth and Soviet forces. Due to its combination of transport capacity, light armor, and armed mobility, it served as a versatile front-line transporter in many theaters of war.

On the tabletop

The M3 half-track is the lightly armoured personnel carrier of US forces, also used by the Commonwealth and the Red Army on every major front. It carries an infantry squad to its objective and, once the men have dismounted, supports them with a medium or heavy machine gun. During assembly you choose M3 or M3A1, a Tulsa winch or the unditching roller at the front, plus stowage racks and armoured louvres open or closed. A driver and a passenger are included.
