    Background & context

    The M5A1 was the further development of the M5 with the larger turret of the M3A3, and came off the line from early 1943. In north-west Europe its 37 mm gun no longer counted for anything against German tanks, so US and Commonwealth formations shifted it to reconnaissance, flank protection and escort duty. British, Canadian and Polish units ran it as the Stuart VI. Many crews pulled the turret out in the field, and that produced the Recce or Kangaroo, a fast open carrier for scouts and supplies.

    On the tabletop

    Its 37 mm gun is no longer enough against German tanks, so in games from 1943 the M5A1 serves as a light tank for scouting, flank security and escort duty. For British, Canadian and Polish troops you build it as the Stuart VI. Without its turret it becomes the open Recce or Kangaroo, which brings scouts and supplies forward quickly. Machine gun options, a spare wheel, a hedgerow cutter and decals for US and Allied units are included.
