    Product details

    Background & context

Dovecotes were part of many Norman manor farms. Before the French Revolution, keeping pigeons was a privilege of the nobility, and the birds supplied meat and manure. Most farms still kept horses for fieldwork and carts in 1944, and the German army moved much of its supply with horse-drawn wagons. A stable with solid walls gave shelter to troops and animals alike.

    On the tabletop

A whole infantry squad fits under the stable roof; simply lift it off to place models inside. The dovecote stands on a small 6.5 x 6.5 cm footprint and can sit close to walls or hedges. During assembly you decide whether the doors stand open or closed. Together, the two buildings give a fight over a Norman farm several pieces of cover and break up lines of sight across the table.
