Background & context

In Normandy, tall walls of rubble stone surrounded many large farms, manor houses and churchyards. They kept livestock in and sheltered gardens and orchards from the wind. In 1944 defenders turned such walls into positions with little effort, knocking loopholes through the masonry and barring the gates. Anyone attacking a walled farm usually had to blast a breach or force the gate first.

On the tabletop

At 4.5 cm high, the wall fully covers infantry and gives vehicles solid protection too. Set the sections out as you need them, for example along a lane or in front of a farmstead. You open or close the gate mid-game, depending on who needs the way through. That gives you a defensive line a whole game can turn on.
