Two pre-painted jungle huts on stilts with thatched roofs at 28 mm (1:56). One is built lower and one higher, so your village does not look as if it came out of a single mould.

Background & context

In the villages of Southeast Asia and Oceania, people mostly lived in huts of timber, bamboo and palm leaves raised on posts above the ground. In the Second World War many of these villages suddenly found themselves on the front line, in Burma, the Philippines, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Soldiers of both sides looked there for shelter, water and local guides, while the inhabitants were caught between the lines. Fighting in and around jungle villages became a familiar feature of the Pacific War.

On the tabletop

With the two huts you can lay out a small village by a river or at the edge of a clearing. Leave room between them for paths where patrols can run into each other. The buildings provide cover and make an objective for a scouting party to search or hold. Add palms and undergrowth so the village looks as if it sits deep in the jungle.
