Background & context

Houses on stilts with roofs of palm leaves or grass have been built across Southeast Asia and Oceania for centuries. The raised floor keeps out damp, floodwater and animals, while the open construction lets air circulate. In the Pacific War of 1941-1945, Japanese and Allied troops used such buildings as quarters or put up their own barracks in the same way from local materials. Camps like this stood in Burma, on New Guinea and on many South Pacific islands.

On the tabletop

Use the barracks as the heart of a Japanese or Allied camp that a raid or a defence revolves around. Place it in a clearing and surround it with dense vegetation so attackers can close in under cover. Whoever holds the building has the camp under control. It fits fights in Burma, the Philippines or the islands of the South Pacific equally well.
