Low timber fences for the gardens and yards of your Eastern Front village: 18 sections in two lengths, 135 cm in total. That is enough to enclose one house all round, and every part comes UV-printed in colour.

Background & context

Around almost every house in the villages of Russia, Ukraine and Belarus ran a timber fence, often of laths or woven willow. It enclosed the garden where collective farmers grew potatoes, cabbage and vegetables for themselves on their own small plot. In combat such fences gave little protection from bullets, but they broke up the ground and forced attackers to look for gaps or climb over.

On the tabletop

At 2.5 cm high the fences stay low: they divide yards and gardens and give infantry behind them light cover without blocking the view across the village. Run the long sections along roads and field edges, and use the short ones to close corners or leave a gap for a way through. Laid end to end, all 18 pieces give 135 cm, enough for one plot with its house. This splits the village into separate plots to be fought over squad by squad.
