    Background & context

Large parts of Belarus and western Russia were covered in forest and marsh, and foresters often lived apart from the villages in their own timber houses at the edge of the woods. From 1942 these very forests became a refuge for Soviet partisans, who attacked supply routes and railway lines. Remote homesteads served as meeting points and hiding places, and at the same time became targets of German countermeasures.

    On the tabletop

Set the dacha at the edge of a wood on your table, where a forester would have lived, and it covers the ground between the trees and open fields. Lift the roof and a whole infantry squad fits inside. The windows take clear acrylic panes, and you fit the doors open or closed during assembly. It suits fighting in the forests of the Soviet Union, including actions against partisans.
