The rear section of a wrecked Stalingrad factory hall, complete with an access ramp and a tank wreck stripped down to its bare hull. The hall is open inside and takes both infantry and vehicles.

Background & context

Northern Stalingrad was lined with large works along the Volga: the tractor plant, the Barrikady gun factory and the Red October steelworks. The tractor plant had built tractors before the war and was producing tanks in 1942, some of which drove straight from the factory gates to the front. From October 1942 German troops pushed into the factory grounds, and fighting for individual workshops inside the halls went on for weeks.

On the tabletop

Drive tanks and other vehicles up the ramp into the hall, where the remaining walls give them shelter. The bare tank hull inside works as cover for infantry gathering behind it. Holding the rear section secures the way into the factory. Combined with the separately available Factory Front, it forms a complete factory hall for fighting in the industrial district.
