Description

Two townhouses with a café on the ground floor for fighting in Normandy in 1944, in 15 mm scale. The HDF panels come fully colour-printed, and floors and roofs lift off so the interiors can be used.

Background & context

In the small towns of Normandy, cafés and shops usually occupied the ground floor of narrow stone houses on the main street. After the landings in June 1944, places such as Carentan, Villers-Bocage or Tilly-sur-Seulles were fought over house by house. Thick walls gave cover, while cellars and upper floors served as positions for machine guns and observers. Many of these town centres lay in ruins after the fighting in the summer of 1944.

On the tabletop

Place both houses on a street corner and your Normandy village has a centre. As roof and upper floor lift off, a whole infantry squad fits inside and it is clear who holds the building. The walls block lines of sight across the street. For 15 mm games, combine them with the other townhouses of the same range to build a full row of houses.
