    Product details

    Background & context

From the 11th to the 13th century the mounted knight was the most expensive and most decisive weapon in Western Europe. Whoever held land owed his liege lord military service on horseback, and out of that grew the levies that met at Bouvines, at Legnano or in Outremer. Mail gradually gave way to the great helm and the surcoat bearing a coat of arms, because otherwise the men under the iron could hardly be told apart any more.

    On the tabletop

For Western European armies of the 11th to 13th centuries, whether French, English or from the Empire, these twelve knights on armoured horses provide your heavy cavalry. In close formation they ride against the enemy line and decide the battle with their charge. The twelve extra resin heads let you give the riders different appearances. In 28 mm scale you can use them to refight battles such as Bouvines or Legnano, or actions in Outremer.
