Background & context

After his return from Elba, Napoleon had barely a hundred days in which to bring Europe to its knees once more. At Mont-Saint-Jean Wellington set against him an army made up of British, Hanoverians, Dutch and Brunswickers, militarily mixed and a patchwork of languages. On 18 June 1815 everything came down to one question: whether this coalition line would hold long enough for Blücher's Prussians to arrive from the east. It held, and Napoleon's rule ended for good that afternoon.

On the tabletop

The French field 48 infantry and 12 Chasseurs à Cheval, with their commander on foot giving the orders. Facing them, 48 British and 24 Hanoverians form up, reinforced by the Royal Artillery cannon and led by the British commander. The quick start guide is enough for the first game, while the rules summary, casualty markers and the six dice sit at the edge of the table. The German 2nd Edition rulebook comes in as soon as you play beyond the quick start, and both armies grow later with further battalions and cavalry from the Black Powder range.
