Product details

Background & context

In 13th-century England, the coat of arms was the only reliable way to tell friend from foe in the press of battle - armour looked much the same on everyone, the shield did not. Among the designs on this sheet are the arms of men who actually played a part in the Barons' War, such as William Marshal and Robert FitzWalter. Anyone raising a force from this period therefore organises it not by regiments but by retinues. A set of coats of arms brings exactly this picture to the gaming table.

On the tabletop

These 36 pre-cut decals give the plastic shields of the Barons' War range the coats of arms of 13th century England. They are based on the arms of men such as William Marshal, Robert FitzWalter, Robert de Vere and Guillaume des Barres. 24 designs are clean, 12 show battle damage for knights who have already seen action. Since forces of the period were organised by retinue, you can give each leader his arms and his men matching shields.
