Product details

Background & context

A company's support echelon provided everything the rifle platoon did not carry itself: an observer with a line to the artillery, a medic, heavy machine guns on tripod mounts and medium mortars. In the Waffen-SS these elements were often better equipped from 1943 than comparable Heer units. Historically the organisation remains part of the Nazi apparatus of terror and was involved in war crimes, and that is part of putting these models in context.

On the tabletop

These eleven metal figures fill several command and support slots in a Waffen-SS list for Bolt Action. The two officers lead the company or platoon, while the observer team and medic fit into any rifle platoon. The MG 42 as a medium machine gun covers wide areas with sustained fire, and the 8 cm Granatwerfer 34 lobs rounds onto targets behind cover. Both teams can also be used in a heavy weapons platoon.
