Background & context

Das MG 42 kam 1942 als schneller und billiger zu fertigender Nachfolger des MG 34 an die Front. Blechpressteile und Rollenverschluss erlaubten eine Feuerrate, die alliierte Soldaten schon am Klang erkannten. Bedient wurde es von drei Mann, denn Waffe, Dreibein, Ersatzlauf und Gurtkästen waren für einen allein nicht zu tragen. Ab 1943 stützte sich die deutsche Verteidigung im Osten wie im Westen auf genau diese Waffe.

On the tabletop

Three SS soldiers carry an MG 42, tripod and ammunition boxes to the next position, your medium machine gun team for a heavy weapons platoon in Bolt Action. On the tripod the MG 42 delivered steadier and more sustained fire than in the squad role, but the crew had to haul weapon, mount and belts. The carrying pose shows the team between two positions. Together with the firing version you can show on the table whether your gun is shooting or relocating.
