Background & context

Die leichte Feldhaubitze 18 war das Standardgeschütz der deutschen Divisionsartillerie. Weil Rohre und Lafetten knapp wurden, setzte man ab 1942 das Rohr der 18/40 auf die Lafette der 7,5-cm-Pak 40 - billiger zu bauen und leichter zu ziehen. Ab 1943 gehörten diese Geschütze auch zu den Artillerieregimentern der Waffen-SS-Divisionen. Bei Gegenangriffen feuerten sie oft aus kürzester Entfernung im direkten Richten.

On the tabletop

In Bolt Action the 10.5 cm leFH 18/40 is a medium howitzer for the artillery of your Waffen-SS force. It fires in an arc at positions and infantry you cannot see directly, softening them up before your own attack or breaking up enemy assaults. During counter-attacks it can also stand much closer to the fighting. Mount the gun and its four crew figures on the oval MDF base to form a complete firing position for games from 1943 to the end of the war.
