    Viking Bondi contains 32 plastic miniatures in 28mm scale, as well as a full-colour transfer sheet and a full-colour banner sheet. The models depict free Viking warriors and are suitable as core troops for shieldwall formations and larger Dark Age armies.

    Background & context

    Ein Bondi war in Skandinavien der freie Bauer mit eigenem Hof - der Mann, der auf dem Thing mitredete und im Sommer mit dem Jarl auf Fahrt gehen durfte. Genau diese Freiwilligen füllten die Langschiffe, die ab dem späten 8. Jahrhundert Klöster und Küsten heimsuchten. Rüstung besaßen die wenigsten, Helm und Schild mussten reichen. Dafür kannten sie Axt und Bogen vom Hof und vom Jagen, und wer Beute machte, kam als reicher Mann zurück - oder blieb gleich in Northumbria, Irland oder der Normandie.

    On the tabletop

    Free farmers, craftsmen and sailors made up the bulk of a Viking army as Bondi, and these 32 figures let you field them in Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage. Apart from helmets and shields they rarely wore any protection, and they fight with spear, sword and axe. Eight figures can be built as archers who shoot over the shield wall or from the flanks. Decals and a banner give your unit shield designs and a standard.
