    Product details

    Background & context

Although the shield wall is the most iconic image of Viking Age warfare, ranged weapons played an important supporting role in raids and smaller battles. Archers could disrupt opponents, create openings, or exploit terrain advantages. In a warband, they cover the advance of heavy melee fighters and provide flexible responses to mobile enemies. This blister pack expands Viking armies with a clearly defined ranged unit.

    On the tabletop

Twelve archers give your Viking army ranged fire in Hail Caesar, SAGA or Pillage. On the longships arrows opened every fight before the crews came alongside, and on land archers shot over the shield wall or skirmished on its flanks. That is how you deploy these metal figures: behind your Bondi and Hirdmen, or as a loose group at the edge of the battle line. They complement the bow option of the plastic Viking Bondi box.
