    Background & context

    Die Mk IX war im Kern ein Mk V, dem man einen amerikanischen GMC-Dieselmotor samt Getriebe eingebaut hatte, was den Panzer beweglicher und zuverlässiger machte. Statt eines Koaxial-MGs bekam der Turm den 6-Pfünder, eine bewusste Entscheidung für Panzerabwehr. Späte Serien liefen mit 165 PS. Über Lend-Lease gingen viele Valentine an die Sowjetunion, wo die Besatzungen sie schätzten: unkompliziert gebaut und im Feld leicht am Laufen zu halten.

    On the tabletop

    The Valentine Mk IX is essentially a Mk V with an American GMC diesel, more mobile and reliable than earlier Valentines. The turret received the 6-pounder at the cost of the coaxial machine gun, a deliberate choice for better anti-tank performance. Bolt Action treats it as a medium tank whose gun counts as a medium anti-tank weapon, and it fits British, Commonwealth or Soviet armoured platoons. Without the machine gun it lacks punch against infantry, so give it armoured targets.
