    Background & context

    Das Stalingrader Traktorenwerk baute den STZ-5 ab 1937 als Militärfassung seines Ackerschleppers. Vollgekettet kam er durch Schlamm und Schnee, wo Lastwagen längst feststeckten, und schleppte Divisionskanonen, Haubitzen und Flak samt Bedienung und Munition. Die Verluste des Sommers 1941 und das Ende der Fertigung in Stalingrad machten ihn rasch selten. Die überlebenden Maschinen liefen trotzdem bis zum Kriegsende weiter.

    On the tabletop

    The fully tracked STZ-5 tows divisional guns, howitzers and anti-aircraft guns into position for your Soviet force, together with their crews and ammunition. It got through mud and snow where trucks bogged down, and also serves as a supply vehicle behind the front. After the losses of 1941 it became rare, though some machines kept running until the end of the war. The resin kit comes with a pewter driver who does not fit cleanly into the cab in this batch.
