    Hintergrund & Einordnung

    The United States Marine Corps earned an outstanding reputation in World War II as an elite amphibious warfare unit. In the Pacific Campaign, the Marines fought against a fanatically defending enemy in dense jungle and on heavily fortified islands-from Guadalcanal to Tarawa and Peleliu to Iwo Jima. In the rugged jungle terrain, tanks were barely usable, which made support weapons such as medium machine guns and mortars indispensable for breaking enemy positions. The Navy Corpsmen, who treated the wounded directly under fire, were among the most decorated units in the Corps.

    Einsatz im Spiel

    The USMC Support Group bundles all important support units for Marines: Officer with SMG, US Navy Corpsman tending to a wounded soldier, Medic with stretcher, Radioman, Mortar Team and MMG Team. In Bolt Action, this support section is the core for command structure and heavy weapon firepower in the Pacific War. The Navy Corpsman is a USMC-specific detail - Marines are not treated by Army medics, but by Navy medics.
