Product details

Background & context

The United States Marine Corps earned an outstanding reputation in World War II as an elite amphibious warfare unit. In the Pacific Campaign, the Marines fought against a fanatically defending enemy in dense jungle and on heavily fortified islands-from Guadalcanal to Tarawa and Peleliu to Iwo Jima. In the rugged jungle terrain, tanks were barely usable, which made support weapons such as medium machine guns and mortars indispensable for breaking enemy positions. The Navy Corpsmen, who treated the wounded directly under fire, were among the most decorated units in the Corps.

On the tabletop

In the jungle and on the Pacific islands the Marines relied on support weapons more than on tanks, and this box provides them for Bolt Action. The medium machine gun and medium mortar give your USMC platoon sustained fire and indirect fire. The officer with a submachine gun leads, and the radio operator works as an observer. The corpsman and the medic with a stretcher treat the wounded and can also be set up as a scene on the battlefield.
