    Product details

    Background & context

Because troop carriers alone could not suppress the beach defenders, armoured amphibious vehicles with gun turrets were developed. The LVT(A)-1 carried a light tank turret with a 37 mm gun, while the LVT(A)-4 from 1944 had an open-topped turret with a 75 mm howitzer. They drove in the first wave ahead of the transports and engaged bunkers and positions on the shore. They saw action on Saipan, Peleliu, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, among other places.

    On the tabletop

Put the commander with binoculars in the turret of your amphibious tank and the other figures at the machine guns behind the turret. The vehicle then shows that it is supporting the landing wave with fire. Place it on the beach in front of the first bunkers while the transports behind it unload the infantry. In Bolt Action you field the amphibious tank as part of a Marine Corps landing.
