Product details

Background & context

In the Pacific the Marines' firepower depended on men with a radio and binoculars. They directed not only their own batteries but also the guns of the warships off the coast and the aircraft overhead. For this task the Corps raised liaison companies of its own, in which specialists from the navy, army and air forces worked together. If the observer went down, the entire support for a sector often fell silent.

On the tabletop

The observer team lets you call in artillery or air strikes in a USMC list for Bolt Action. The officer and his radio operator direct fire from batteries far behind the lines or from aircraft onto the target, and an attendant completes the group. In the Pacific such observers also directed the guns of warships offshore. Place the team where it can see the target area while staying in cover itself.
