    Background & context

    From 1941 the US Army raised dedicated tank destroyer battalions meant to stop enemy armoured attacks with fast, heavily armed vehicles. The M10, M18 and M36 tank destroyers carried their guns in turrets that were open at the top. This saved weight and gave a clear view, but left the men exposed to shell splinters and snipers. Towards the end of the war the battalions often served as mobile artillery and in support of the infantry.

    On the tabletop

    A tank destroyer with an open turret looks empty without men inside, and with these four figures your opponent sees the crew at work. Place the vehicle at the edge of a wood or behind a hedge, waiting for approaching tanks. In Bolt Action the crew suits US Army tank destroyers in North Africa, Italy and North-West Europe.
