    Background & context

    Andrew Higgins baute sein Boot ursprünglich für die Sümpfe Louisianas: flacher Rumpf, robuster Antrieb, läuft einfach auf den Sand und wieder zurück. Die US Navy erkannte, was das wert war, und ließ Tausende bauen. Ob Normandie, Sizilien oder die Inselkämpfe im Pazifik - wo alliierte Truppen an Land gingen, kamen sie meist in einem LCVP. Eisenhower nannte Higgins später den Mann, der den Krieg gewonnen habe.

    On the tabletop

    Your landing in Bolt Action starts with the Higgins boat: the bow ramp drops, your squad storms onto the beach, and the boat backs off to fetch the next wave. Two machine gunners in the positions beside the helm give covering fire. The MDF and greyboard hull has a working ramp and makes a starting point for landing scenarios in Normandy, Sicily or the Pacific. Historically it could carry a whole platoon.
