    Background & context

Soldiers called it hurry up and wait: fall in, mount up, halt, wait. Between two operations a GI spent hours by a road, in front of an abandoned house or next to a field kitchen, with a ration, a cigarette and news from home. Quarters were often in villages that had still been fought over the day before. These are exactly the images missing from most gaming tables.

    On the tabletop

With no combat task at hand, these three GIs stand around at ease and bring life to the areas behind the front. Put them by a field kitchen, in front of billets in a village or next to a waiting vehicle column. In a game they can serve as an objective, for instance a group caught by a raid, or as a scene at the edge of your table. The pewter figures suit American troops from 1942 to 1945 in 28 mm scale.
