Product details

Background & context

In the Second World War, the US Army went to war on wheels. The GMC CCKW-353, known to GIs as the Deuce and a Half, was the 2.5-ton truck that brought up squads, ammunition and rations - more than half a million came off the production line. Anyone building a Normandy or Ardennes gaming table today cannot do without these trucks. And a truck with no one aboard simply looks like a vehicle in a depot.

On the tabletop

Five seated resin GIs fill the cargo bed of your Rubicon CCKW-353 or any other unarmoured US vehicle. That way the truck shows that it is bringing a section forward rather than standing empty in the depot. Once it reaches its destination, you take the figures off and place your infantry next to it. In a convoy or a supply scenario this turns the loaded vehicle into a worthwhile target.
