Background & context

In the winter of 1944/45 a great deal on the Western Front depended on small teams like these. The bazooka had been the infantry's anti-tank weapon since North Africa and remained so to the end, even though it could do next to nothing against the frontal armour of the heavier German types, which is why crews aimed at tracks and flanks. Snipers worked in pairs, both men fully trained, so that shooter and spotter could swap at any time. And when a bunker could be cracked neither with hand grenades nor with artillery, the flamethrower came forward.

On the tabletop

Three two-man teams in winter clothing support a US Army platoon in the Ardennes. The bazooka gives your infantry a weapon against tanks, and against heavy German vehicles it is best aimed at tracks and flanks. The sniper team with its Springfield rifle targets enemy officers, and both men are trained marksmen. The flamethrower attacks bunkers, buildings and dug-in enemies at short range.
