    Background & context

    Die M5 entstand aus dem Rohr der 3-Zoll-Flak M3, gesetzt auf eine Lafette aus der Familie der 105-mm-Haubitze - ein Notbehelf, der überraschend gut schoss. Dieselbe Kanone steckte im Jagdpanzer M10, und genau der machte die gezogene Version überflüssig: motorisiert war sie schneller in Stellung und wieder heraus. Bis Kriegsende hatten die Bataillone in Italien und Nordwesteuropa die M5 weitgehend abgegeben.

    On the tabletop

    No towed anti-tank gun the US Army fielded in Europe was heavier than the M5. In Bolt Action it serves as a heavy anti-tank gun in the artillery platoon. Its 3-inch barrel was also fitted to the M10 tank destroyer, so the two belong together in a force for Italy or North-West Europe from late 1943. Because of its size and weight, have it towed by a half-track. Four crew figures and an oval MDF base are included.
