    Background & context

    Der Winter 1944/45 war in Nordwesteuropa bitterkalt, und die GIs in den Ardennen bekamen ihn mit voller Wucht ab. Der Boden gefror so hart, dass sich Schützenlöcher kaum noch ausheben ließen; zeitweise kosteten Erfrierungen die US-Armee mehr Männer als deutsches Feuer. Getragen wurde alles, was wärmte, vom Wollschal bis zur Decke über dem Helm. Dieses Bild hat sich als das der Ardennenoffensive festgesetzt.

    On the tabletop

    With two BAR gunners, seven men with rifle or carbine and an NCO with a submachine gun, this metal squad reinforces your US infantry in winter clothing for Bolt Action. The two BARs give the squad a strong base of fire for holding woodland edges and crossroads in the Ardennes. In the winter of 1944/45 the frozen ground could hardly be dug for foxholes, so cover had to be found elsewhere. The squad matches the plastic winter US infantry box and adds poses of its own.
