Description

The Buffalo swims in, crawls up the beach and unloads at the rear, which is exactly what the LVT-4 was built for. With over 8,000 built it is the most numerous version, and it turns up in the Pacific just as it does on the Scheldt and the Rhine.

Product details

Background & context

The LVT series goes back to a civilian swamp vehicle from Florida and, from Tarawa onwards, became the standard means of getting troops over coral reefs and onto the beach. The LVT-4 moved the engine to the front and gained a rear ramp, so that soldiers, supplies or a Jeep could disembark under cover. Over 8,000 vehicles came off the line. The British used them in 1944 at Walcheren on the Scheldt, and in March 1945 Buffaloes carried whole battalions across the Rhine.

On the tabletop

The Buffalo is an amphibious tracked vehicle that brings your American or British troops straight from the water across the beach in Bolt Action. Soldiers, supplies or a light vehicle leave through the rear ramp under cover instead of running into enemy fire head-on. That makes it suitable for Pacific landings as well as river crossings in Europe, such as on the Scheldt in 1944 or the Rhine in 1945. Order dice, decals and gaming accessories are included.
