Product details

Background & context

After the landings in Normandy, American airborne troops were equipped with the new M43 uniform and prepared for the upcoming major operations in Western Europe. As light units without heavy organic support, paratroopers were particularly dependent on handy weapons that could be carried by parachute. Light and medium mortars provided indirect fire support without the logistics of regular artillery, while the M1 Bazooka offered the infantryman a realistic chance against armored vehicles. This combination of firepower and mobility characterized the fighting style of American airborne forces in the decisive operations of the late phase of the war.

On the tabletop

Wearing the M43 uniform, this group suits your US paratroopers at Market Garden and in the Ardennes. Two officers lead your platoons, and a medic and forward observer complete the headquarters. Indirect fire comes from the 81 mm M1 medium mortar and the 60 mm M2 light mortar, while the M1 bazooka team deals with tanks. Each team is fielded as a separate unit in Bolt Action, so one box extends an Airborne platoon with several roles at once.
